Kabak and Faralya are about 85 km from Dalaman Airport and take around an hour and a half: roughly an hour to Ölüdeniz, then another 30 to 45 minutes on a narrow mountain road above the sea.

The route

The D400 east through the Göcek tunnel and past Fethiye, then up over the hill through Ovacık and Ölüdeniz. After that the road climbs along the cliffs through Faralya to the Kabak valley. It is paved but narrow, with blind bends and a long drop on the seaward side.

Where the hotels are

Faralya is strung along the road above Butterfly Valley; Kabak is the next valley south, where most places are camps, bungalows and small lodges on the slope. Many are reached by a steep track or on foot, and some arrange a jeep down from the car park at the top.

Tips for this transfer

Ask your accommodation where the car can actually stop — several places end with a walk down, and that is the part people are not expecting after a flight. Shared shuttles generally terminate at Ölüdeniz, so the last stretch is a private car or taxi. Avoid arriving in the dark on a first visit.

The drive to Kabak / Faralya takes about 1 h 35 min whichever way you go. The difference is price, waiting and how much luggage handling you want.

Yes, a minibus runs from Fethiye via Ölüdeniz to Faralya and Kabak, but it is infrequent and ends early. With flight luggage a transfer is the practical choice.
