What the numbers mean for your holiday

Beach season runs from mid-May to the end of October. The sea warms slowly in spring and cools slowly in autumn, so October is a better swimming month than May even though the air is similar.

July and August are genuinely hot. Resorts along the coast are tolerable thanks to the sea breeze, but Antalya Old Town, Aspendos and Perge are best visited before 10 am or after 5 pm.

Winter is mild and green. Daytime highs of 15–17°C make it a good time for the city, the museums and the Lycian Way, but most beach hotels in Belek and Side close or run a reduced programme from November to March. Golf courses stay open all year.
