Almost everything on this coast sits on one road, the D400, with Antalya Airport roughly in the middle. That makes the distances easy to work out once you have them in one place — and it explains why a resort that looks next door on a map can be an hour away.

Distances come from our airport transfer data and are road, not straight-line, kilometres. Times assume ordinary traffic and the coast road's own average speed; allow longer on summer afternoons and through Antalya.
Getting between resorts without a car
Dolmuş for the short hops
For anything up to about 30 km the shared minibus is the normal way to travel, and it is how people living here get around. Dolmuşes run along the main road all day in season, stop where you wave them down and where you ask to get off, and you pay the driver in cash. There is no need to look up a timetable for the busy stretches — Side to Manavgat, Alanya to Mahmutlar, Kemer to Göynük — because one comes along every few minutes.
We do not publish fares or service hours: they change often and the sources contradict each other. Ask at your hotel reception on the day, which is the only reliable source. More on how it all works in our getting around guide.
The intercity bus for the long ones
Antalya to Alanya, or either of them to Fethiye, is a coach journey rather than a minibus one. Buses leave from the otogar (bus station) rather than from the resort strips, they are comfortable and cheap, and you buy at the counter or online. Factor in getting to the otogar at both ends, which is often what makes a taxi or a transfer worth it for a family with luggage.
Taxi and private transfer
A taxi is metered and priced per car, so for two to four people it is often reasonable over short distances and poor value over long ones — the same pattern we measured for airport journeys on our taxi fares page. For a longer hop with luggage, a booked car with a fixed price is usually the calmer option; see how to choose a transfer.
Hotel excursion desks will also arrange a car for a day trip. That is convenient and usually carries a margin over arranging the same trip yourself.
A hire car, and when it earns its keep
If your week includes two or three outings in different directions, a car for those days usually costs less than the equivalent taxis and gives you the ruins at opening time rather than at tour-bus time. If you are staying in one all-inclusive resort and plan one trip, it does not. Our car hire guide covers the paperwork, the insurance wording and the local driving habits.
What the distances allow
From Belek, everything between Antalya and Side is a comfortable half-day: Perge and Side in one direction, Antalya's old town in the other. Alanya is a long day and better left alone unless you really want it.
From Side, Manavgat is barely a journey at all, Aspendos and Belek are short hops, and Alanya is an easy outing. From Kemer, Antalya is close and everything east of the city is a serious drive — the mountains and the coves on your own side are the better use of the day.
From Alanya the arithmetic reverses: Side is reachable, Antalya is a full day, and most Alanya holidays stay east of Manavgat. If you want both ends of this coast in one week, split the week between two hotels rather than driving it twice.
Why the western side is further than it looks
Antalya Airport sits at the eastern edge of the city. Everything east of it is a straight run; everything west — Kemer and the coves beyond — has to get around Antalya first, through the city's traffic. That is why Kemer and Belek, which look like near neighbours on the map, are a good hour and a half apart by road.
The table stops at Alanya and Kemer for a reason. Kaş, Kalkan, Fethiye and the rest of the western coast are measured from Antalya Airport along an inland route, so subtracting those figures would give you a number that does not match any real road. Those places belong to the Dalaman side, and the airports guide explains which airport serves which resort.
Frequently asked questions
How far is Belek from Side?
About 30 km by road, which is half an hour in normal traffic. They are the two big family-resort areas east of Antalya and the dolmuş along the main road connects them all day. If you are choosing between the two rather than visiting, our Belek or Side comparison goes through the differences.
How far is Antalya from Alanya?
About 139 km along the coast road, and you should allow two and a half hours each way. It is a real day out rather than an afternoon, and the intercity bus does it comfortably if you do not want to drive.
Can you get between the resorts by public transport?
Yes, and it is normal here. Short hops are served by dolmuş minibuses along the main road, all day and every few minutes in season; long journeys are served by intercity coaches from the bus stations. The gap in the system is luggage and late nights, which is where a taxi or a booked car comes in.
Is it worth hiring a car to see the coast?
For two or three outings in different directions, usually yes; for one trip from an all-inclusive hotel, usually no. Distances here are longer than they look, and the saving is in flexibility — early starts at the ruins, a market morning, a canyon in the afternoon — rather than in the fare.
Why are Kaş, Kalkan and Fethiye not in the table?
Because our kilometres are measured from Antalya Airport, and the route to those places runs inland rather than along the coast. Subtracting one from another would produce a distance that matches no real road. They sit on the Dalaman side of the region and are usually reached from Dalaman Airport.
