Kiriş and Çamyuva: Kemer's quiet pine coast

Kiriş and Çamyuva are two neighbouring resort villages just south of Kemer town, about 62 km and 70 minutes from Antalya Airport. Hotels sit in pine forest between the mountains and the sea, the beaches are pebble and shingle with clear water, and the high peak of Tahtalı rises behind. Kiriş is almost entirely hotels; Çamyuva has a small village centre with shops and restaurants. Choose them for scenery and calm, not for nightlife or sandy beaches.

Where to stay in Kiriş and Çamyuva

Bookings often just say Kemer. Kiriş and Çamyuva lie side by side south of the town, between the coast road and the sea; the main difference is whether you want a village around you or only your hotel.

Beaches and the sea

Pebble beaches and clear water

The shore here is pebble and shingle rather than sand, and that is the reason the water is so clear. Most hotels have their own beach section with sunbeds, and some have piers or platforms for swimming. The seabed drops off fairly quickly, so water shoes help, and families with small children should check the beach entry of their hotel before booking.

The pines come right down towards the shore in many places, so there is natural shade, and the mountains behind make for a striking view from the water.

Çamyuva beach

Çamyuva's beach runs in front of the village and the hotels. Near the village centre you will find sections open to everyone, with sunbeds for rent and simple beach cafés. It is a good place to swim if your hotel's beach is busy or you are staying in a guesthouse without one.

Boat trips from Kemer

Day boats leave from Kemer marina, 10 to 15 minutes away, to the coves along the foot of the mountains and to Phaselis. Many hotels arrange the pick-up. Some boats play loud music and run foam parties, others are quiet; ask which kind you are booking. More in our boat trips guide.

Things to do nearby

Phaselis

The ancient harbour city of Phaselis lies in pine forest about 15 minutes south by car, near Tekirova. You walk along a colonnaded street between three small bays and can swim among the ruins. Go early or late in the day in summer, as it gets hot and busy. See our ancient sites guide.

Tahtalı cable car

The cable car near Tekirova climbs to the 2,365 m summit of Tahtalı, the mountain you see from your sunbed. On a clear morning the view takes in the whole Kemer coast. It is cold at the top even in summer, and it can close in strong wind; check before you go. Details in the Kemer guide.

Kemer town and Göynük Canyon

Kemer town has the marina, a long shopping street, bars and the weekly market on Monday (market days). North of Kemer, Göynük Canyon is popular for a walk and a swim in cold, turquoise water; take shoes that can get wet.

Olympos, Çıralı and the mountains

Further south, about 40 to 50 minutes by car, are the ruins of Olympos and the burning rocks of the Chimaera above Çıralı (Olympos and Çıralı guide). Walkers can try sections of the Lycian Way in the mountains behind the coast (Lycian Way). For these trips a hire car is more useful than the dolmuş.

Eating out and evenings

Most guests in Kiriş stay all inclusive, so there is little to do outside the hotels in the evening. Çamyuva's village centre has a handful of restaurants, cafés and small supermarkets, and is pleasant for a short stroll after dinner, but it is not a nightlife spot.

For a wider choice of restaurants, bars and clubs, take a dolmuş or taxi to Kemer town, 10 to 15 minutes away. If all inclusive is your plan, our all-inclusive guide explains what to check before booking.

Getting there and around

Antalya Airport is about 62 km and 70 minutes away by car, around the city and along the D400 coast road with its tunnels; see the Antalya Airport to Kiriş transfer guide and all routes under airport transfers. At rush hour in Antalya allow an extra 20 to 30 minutes.

Dolmuş minibuses run along the main road between Kemer, Kiriş, Çamyuva and Tekirova. Some hotels in Kiriş are a walk from the main road, so check how far your hotel is from the stop. Weighing up the coast? Read Side or Kemer and Belek or Kemer.

When to go

The beach season runs from May to October. July and August are hot and the hotels are full; June, September and early October are warm with fewer people. Spring is lovely for walking, with snow still on Tahtalı, but the sea is cool. In winter most hotels close. See weather by month and the holiday budget calculator.
